We want to hear you, young people, about the role you already play and would like to play in driving the 2030 Agenda and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals!

This global online consultation on Youth & the SDGs will be open from 14 March to 6 April 2023. It is organized by UN entities (UNDP, UNFPA, OSGEY, DESA) and CSO and youth partners (UN Foundation, Major Group for Children and Youth) in charge of co-organizing the session on Youth & the SDG Summit at the ECOSOC Youth Forum (Day 3, 27 April), in the lead up to the SDG Summit (in September 2023, at midpoint of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda).

Young people are invited to join and add their voices to this online public consultation. Youth are understood accordingly with national and regional age-definitions and below 35 years of age. Adolescents and young people from the Global South will be particularly encouraged to engage in the discussion.

We look forward to your contributions!

WHY IS THIS CONSULTATION IMPORTANT?

Impact

Young people’s innovative ideas and bold action are needed to accelerate SDG implementation. This online consultation will identify and consolidate inputs from youth and bring those insights to the ECOSOC Youth Forum 2023, the HLPF and the SDG Summit consultation process. It will also contribute to enhancing coordination amongst all actors supporting youth engagement and consultations in the context of SDG implementation and review and to spotlighting promising practices, solutions and recommendations.

Background

The ECOSOC Youth Forum will be an opportunity to highlight key priorities and recommendations by youth towards the upcoming SDG Summit, ensuring a focus on youth empowerment and leadership and young people's contribution to the 2030 Agenda and vision for the future. It will feature UN representatives, decision-makers and a diversity of young voices from Member States, civil society, private sector and other young development practitioners.

The 2023 Annual Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum, will take place over three days on 25-27 April 2023, guided by the theme of the 2023 UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) on “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels”.
