SDG 16 Implementation

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development has 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets which apply to all countries everywhere. The Agenda makes it clear that the SDGs need to be adapted to the national context of each country.

The UN and other international actors provide guidance to countries on how to do so, for example by aligning national development plans. For SDG 16, this means first reviewing existing policies on the SDG 16 targets (e.g. on violence, human trafficking, corruption, access to justice and information, inclusive decision-making, legal identity) and then assessing where policies may be missing or insufficient.
