SDG 16 Implementation
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets apply to all countries. The Agenda makes clear, however, that the SDGs need to be adapted to the national context of each country.
The UN and other international actors provide guidance to countries on how to do so, for example by aligning national development plans. For SDG 16, in a first step, this means reviewing existing policies on the SDG 16 targets (e.g. on violence, human trafficking, corruption, access to justice and information, inclusive decision-making, legal identity) and assessing where policies may be missing or insufficient.
