#HLPF2019: SDG16+ Technical Consultation on Inclusive Participation and Civic Engagement, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

The third SDG 16+ Technical Consultation took place within the Ulaanbaatar Democracy Forum (UBDF) 2019, and focused on Inclusive Participation and Civic Engagement. The event was organized by Asia Development Alliance (ADA), Asia Democracy Network (ADN), Community of Democracies, UNDP, Global Alliance on SDG 16+, with the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia. 

100 participants attended, primarily from civil society organisations and also from national human rights institutions and governments, including some Member States that are reporting to the high-level political forum in July. 

The discussion topic included:

  • The implementation of the 2030 Agenda in Asia
  • National level experiences in implementing the SDGs, especially SDG 16;
  • Civil society's perspectives on ensuring civic space in monitoring the implementation of the SDGs and participation in public affairs;
  • The links between human rights and the SDGs, particularly SDG 16;
  • Multi-stakeholder approaches to SDG 16
  • The Voluntary National Reviews.
