"In our digital world, the COVID-19 infodemic is spreading more rapidly than the virus, bringing with it potentially deadly consequences fueled by misinformation and disinformation.

UN agencies, in particular the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNESCO, are spearheading efforts to tackle the spread of misinformation, but the challenge is significant.

“We’re not just fighting an epidemic; we’re fighting an infodemic,” said WHO’s Director-General in March. But while COVID-19 is new, misinformation around health is not, with many existing tactics in use."
