The session will aim to build the capacity of civil society organizations and representatives from around the world to engage on SDG 16+ work. The session will take place ahead of HLPF 2021, which will see SDG 16 reviewed for the second time. It will therefore be a perfect opportunity for interested CSOs to learn about the importance of SDG 16+, and how to better support local and national governments in implementing the Goal and advancing peaceful, just and inclusive societies.

This session is also intended to inform civil society representatives of the 16+ Forum Annual Showcase scheduled to take place in San José, Costa Rica from 6-9 December 2021. It is hoped that this session will help drive global CSO engagement and participation in the Showcase, and civil society interest in SDG 16+-related issues more generally.

The 16+ Forum; the Global Alliance for Reporting Progress on Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies; the TAP Network; and the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS) will share resources as well as their expertise on the matter as three major SDG 16+ initiatives and leaders of the wider 16+ Coalition.
